Análisis de redes
El análisis de redes va más allá de la mera visualización; es una técnica para descubrir patrones y estructuras dentro de sistemas complejos. El análisis de redes representa relaciones como nodos (elementos) conectados por bordes (relaciones), lo que proporciona una perspectiva única para comprender las conexiones e interacciones dentro de los datos.
En las redes dirigidas, se registra la orientación de los enlaces, reflejando el flujo o la interacción de un nodo a otro. Un caso típico de red dirigida son las relaciones comerciales entre países, donde las flechas sobre los enlaces señalan la dirección de las exportaciones. El ancho de estas flechas transmite información adicional, como la frecuencia o la intensidad de la relación.
Las redes no dirigidas representan vínculos simétricos, en los que la conexión entre dos nodos es recíproca. Por ejemplo, en una red social, las relaciones entre personas no están orientadas, dado que la amistad implica una conexión mutua.
El estudio de redes implica investigar la estructura y propiedades de estas conexiones. Un concepto fundamental es la centralidad, que identifica los nodos más significativos en una red. El grado de centralidad (cantidad de conexiones) y la centralidad de intermediación (importancia al conectar otros nodos) son herramientas que ayudan a discernir la relevancia de nodos específicos.
